Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Season the chicken inside and out with salt and pepper and place it in a roasting pan.

Sprinkle inside and out with onion powder. Place 3 tablespoons margarine in the chicken cavity. Arrange dollops of the remaining margarine around the chicken's exterior.

Place 3 or 4 pieces of celery in the cavity of the chicken.

Bake uncovered 1 hour and 15 minutes in the preheated oven.

Remove the pan from the heat and baste with the melted margarine and any drippings.

Allow it rest for 30 minutes before serving, covered in aluminum foil.
