8 slices Sourdough Bread
300 g Gruyere Cheese grated
8 slices Ham Slices
1 teaspoon Dijon Mustard
500 ml Bechamel Sauce
20 g Butter

Béchamel sauce, ham, cheese and a smear of Dijon mustard, grilled until it’s oozing, this sandwich is the king of grilled cheeses!

Preheat oven to 425 F. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a skillet over medium to medium-high heat, melt the butter. Cook the sandwiches in the skillet for 2 minutes, or until golden brown. Turn and cook the other side until golden brown. Transfer to a baking tray.

To assemble the croque monsieur, place four slices of the bread on the prepared baking sheet. Spread each slice with a thin layer of Dijon, followed by a layer of the béchamel.

Top each slice of bread with the ham and half of the Gruyere cheese.

Place remaining slices of bread on top, bechamel side up, then top with remaining gruyere.

Bake at 425 degrees F for about 5-6 minutes, until cheese is melted.
